George Engler’s latest album, The Inside Of The Outside Or The Outside Of The Inside Who Are They Where Do They Come From Why Are They Here, is a thought-provoking and experimental journey that pushes the boundaries of traditional music. The album is a collection of 11 tracks that blend different genres, including jazz, electronic, and ambient, to create a unique and dynamic sound.
Engler’s music is rich in texture and layers, with each track offering something different to the listener. The album opens with “The Inside Of The Outside,” a haunting and atmospheric piece that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The use of electronic beats and distorted vocals creates an otherworldly feel that draws the listener in.
Tracks like “The Unseen World” and “The Great Unknown” are more upbeat and feature intricate jazz-inspired instrumentation. Engler’s use of saxophone and trumpet adds a sense of playfulness to the music, while the electronic beats keep the tracks grounded in the present.
The album’s title track, “The Inside Of The Outside Or The Outside Of The Inside Who Are They Where Do They Come From Why Are They Here,” is a standout. Clocking in at over 10 minutes, the track is a journey in itself, with Engler exploring different sounds and moods throughout. The use of spoken word samples adds a layer of depth to the track, making it a truly immersive experience.
George Engler composed the rest of the music for this avante-garde / electronic / experimental / sci-fi / outer space LP released on the tiny upstate New York label Serenus Records in 1965.
This record predates George Harrison's Electronic Sound album on Zapple Records by four years. The liner notes are by Andrew Others and read like a science fiction short story.
A very rare and very unusual album, and I doubt you will ever find a copy in better condition.
