Freddie North is an American R&B singer, born 28 May 1939, Nashville, Tennessee. North had experience as a disc jockey at WLAC-Nashville and in promotion for Nashboro Records, who released gospel music. In 1971, he released an album, Friend, on Mankind Records (U.S. #179, U.S. R&B Albums #41). The disc yielded two hit singles, "She's All I Got" (U.S. #39, U.S. R&B Singles #10) and "You and Me Together Forever." The former was written by Gary U.S. Bonds and Jerry Williams, Jr. Freddie's version was the original, and Johnny Paycheck had a #2 country version the same year. Conway Twitty and Tanya Tucker (as "He's All I've Got") each recorded versions the following year, and yet another cover titled "Don't Take Her She's All I've Got" was released by Tracy Byrd, whose version reached number 4 on the U.S. and Canadian country singles charts.
