In Love's Time by Dave Valentin is a smooth and soulful jazz album that showcases the flautist's virtuosity and musicality. Released in 1999, the album features a mix of original compositions and covers of classic jazz tunes, all arranged with Valentin's signature Latin jazz flavor.
The album opens with the upbeat and funky "Mambo Influenciado," a tribute to the Cuban jazz pianist Chucho Valdes. The track sets the tone for the rest of the album, with its infectious rhythms and Valentin's melodic flute lines. Other standout tracks include the romantic ballad "In Love's Time," the groovy "Funky Bumpkins," and the Latin-tinged "Obsession."
Valentin is joined on the album by a talented group of musicians, including pianist Bill O'Connell, bassist Lincoln Goines, and drummer Robby Ameen. Their tight and dynamic playing provides a solid foundation for Valentin's soaring flute solos.
