As far as I'm concerned, there is no greater performance of Big Band, Jazz, or any other genre of music. This album could arguably be considered the pinnacle of Big Band. Of course, there are a lot of great albums from which to choose, so it would be a fun and enlightening debate, which probably should end in a tie. Also, I would put it up against any of the great classical orchestras too. Thank you so much for this!
Ellington must have maintained the highest degree of diplomacy keeping such legends as Hodges?Williams,Tizol,Bigard, etc. around as the nucleus of his band and need I mentuon Strayhorn the great arrainger and composer.
