Review by Lukman Adi Nugroho

The album Statements by Charlie Mingus is a true masterpiece of jazz music. The legendary bassist and composer delivers a collection of powerful and innovative compositions that showcase his unique style and virtuosity.

The album opens with the dynamic and complex "Haitian Fight Song," a piece that perfectly encapsulates Mingus' ability to blend different musical genres and create a sound that is both challenging and accessible. Other highlights include "Blue Cee," a beautiful ballad that showcases Mingus' lyrical side, and "Reincarnation of a Lovebird," a lively and energetic tune that features some impressive improvisation.

Throughout the album, Mingus is joined by a stellar cast of musicians, including saxophonists John Handy and Booker Ervin, trumpeter Clarence Shaw, and drummer Dannie Richmond. Together, they create a sound that is both cohesive and adventurous, constantly pushing the boundaries of jazz music.

Mingus the Great! The lineup is good with excellent solos but Jaki Byard shines.

Mestre dos mestres o Charles Mingus!
I wish to recall you how lucky we are: we can listen to this ?
me costo bastante encontrar esta cancion porque habia olvidado el nombre y ahora que la he vuelto a escuchar me gusto como la primera vez...
Bobby Jones is the clarinet player
More interesting question: who is that clarinet player?
Of course - the clarinet sounds like a clarinet. If something sounds like a clarinet and has the range of notes of a clarinet, it is a clarinet...
Sure sounds like a clarinet, not an alto sax.
wowwwwwwwwww
i think i know this man. lol
