- About Me: Michael Low is a 22-year-old artist living in Denver, CO. He has been drawing, painting, and progressively improving since the age of 13. He is self-taught, with no formal training. His art consists of various mediums including but not limited to spray paint, acrylic, marker ink, pen ink, pencils, charcoal, watercolor and wheat paste. Low is heavily influenced by the physical, political, and emotional world that surrounds him. Artistically he is moved by graffiti and urban street art. Low appreciates and admires fellow artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mark Rothko, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Roy Lichtenstein and Jackson Pollock. Music influences the rhythm and flow of each of his paintings. Rock and roll, punk, hip-hop, blues and jazz are an essential part of the process. He pairs the music with whatever mood he’s in. Women and their beauty have always intrigued him. They are nurturing and consuming…similar to art. Painting is a creative outlet for Low that encapsulates the way he feels about life. It is a way for him to protest political injustice, as well as immoral and unethical practices.
