The album opens with the energetic "Chain Gang," featuring Escoffery's searing saxophone solos and the driving rhythm section of David Kikoski on piano, Ugonna Okegwo on bass, and Ralph Peterson on drums. The band then shifts into a more contemplative mood with the beautiful ballad "Kyrie," which highlights Escoffery's lyrical phrasing and Kikoski's delicate piano accompaniment.
