this west coast rap group goin at east coast rap girls/group was definitely calculated (most likely orchestrated by the male producers).
it was the marketing move of the time to sign women rappers and have them go at Roxanna Shante as a way to profit off the hype around the Roxanne wars.
but there’s something more to be said about this bc most male rapper/rap group introductions just introduced their lifestyle and persona vs the women almost always being introduced through diss/rivalry.
This could really be considered the beginning of the West Coast vs East Coast rap rivalry ???
