The Supremes have released an expanded edition of their 1968 album Sing And Perform Funny Girl, and it's a delight for fans of the Motown trio. The album, which features covers of songs from the hit Broadway musical Funny Girl, showcases the group's vocal prowess and versatility as they tackle a range of styles and moods.

The expanded edition includes previously unreleased tracks and alternate versions, offering a deeper look into the recording process and the Supremes' creative choices. The standout tracks include the upbeat "I'm the Greatest Star," the soulful "Don't Rain on My Parade," and the tender "People," which showcases Diana Ross's emotive voice.

The Supremes' harmonies are tight and polished, and their interpretations of the songs bring a fresh energy to the familiar tunes. The expanded edition also includes insightful liner notes and rare photos, making it a must-have for Supremes fans and Broadway aficionados alike.

Their best-known and most stable lineup was Diana Ross, Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson, in which configuration they became Motown's top act of the 1960s, though of that line-up only Wilson remained in the group by the time of the 1970s disco incarnation represented here. The Supremes changed name in early 1967 to Diana Ross & The Supremes. Motown president stated that the name change was done so that Motown could demand more money from live bookings, but rumors began to spread of an approaching Diana Ross solo career. At that time member Florence Ballard had begun drinking and occasionally missing performance and, by June 1967, was replaced by Cindy Birdsong, a member of Patti LaBelle & The Blue Belles. In January 1970, Diana Ross & The Supremes gave their final performance and Ross began her solo career. Jean Terrell replaced Diana as the lead singer and thereby renaming the group back to The Supremes. Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 (Performer).
