About Dr Sir Warrior & His Oriental Brothers Int Band

Christogonus Ezewuiro Obinna (1947 June 2nd, 1999), alias Dr. Sir Warrior, was the member of the famed Oriental Brothers International Band, originally found by Ferdinand "DanSatch" Emeka Opara, which was famous in the Nigerian Igbo highlife music scene for several decades. He was the most popular and prolific of the band's musicians, after the original band broke up into their own bands, for his powerful messages and proverbs which he delivered with his beautiful voice in his songs, backed with the deft instrumental work of His Oriental Brothers International Band. Warrior came out solo, with his debut album of late 1980, "Onye ໌ma Nmanu." Warrior's last album was "Who Goes There" in '96, before his passing in '99. Warrior still, even when going solo, did collaboration albums with Kabaka and DanSatch after the splits, to put behind their differences and reunite as the Original Orientals, though never reforming again. When Warrior was in his own band, Aquila (who was formerly a conga player with Ichita in "The Great Oriental Brothers International Band"), joined back with DanSatch after the leader of his first solo band, Ichita passed away, and then later, with Warrior, when his player, Emensa, had to leave. Warrior was signed to West African label, Afrodisia Ltd., or Decca West Africa, then in the 90s, signed to Super International, held by Chief executive, Guy N. Okoli. Warrior still recorded his songs in Afrodisia Studios, under the Super International label, and was now known as Ultimate Dr. Sir Warrior. In 1993, Warrior, under Super International, released his album Nke Onye Diri Ya. From 1993 to '96, Warrior recorded his final albums (including collaborative album, "Oriental Ga-Ebi," with DanSatch and Kabaka) before passing away in 1999. Even after the passing of Warrior, his music is still remembered and His sons, Uche and Ajuzieogu Obinna, along with DanSatch, sing old songs of Warrior at conventions and live performances to commemorate the blessed memory of Warrior.
