Stereophonics - The Bartender And The Thief Live From Cardiff Castle

Review by Marko Heijnen

The Bartender And The Thief Live From Cardiff Castle by Stereophonics is a fantastic album that captures the energy and raw power of the band's live performances. The album features a mix of classic hits and newer material, all performed with the passion and intensity that has made Stereophonics one of the most beloved bands in the UK.

The album opens with a blistering rendition of "C'est La Vie", which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Kelly Jones' gravelly vocals are in top form throughout the album, and the rest of the band matches his intensity note for note. From the driving rock of "Local Boy In The Photograph" to the soaring chorus of "Dakota", every song on the album is a highlight.

One of the standout moments on the album is the band's cover of The Beatles' "Come Together". Stereophonics puts their own spin on the classic tune, giving it a harder edge and making it their own.

RIP GORD.
I'm a Hip fan, and canuck, never heard this version until today. Very good job. 2 thumbs up..sorry guys, it won't beat the original though..but damn good cover.
Definitely better than the original. Kelly can sing!
@ryanserring that, sir, is fucking blasphemy. Nobody can sing this song like Gordon Downie, and nobody can relate to it like Gordon Downie.
Kelly Jones makes this song epic and so much better than the tragically hip version,
One of my favorite stereophonics songs...epic cover...probably the most under rated band in history
been 2 months since the post but still. though it carries a nautical theme the song is about the nephew of Gord Downie lead singer for the tragically hip (for a girl i know its mothers day, the girl being his sister). he died of heart failure or something to do with the heart (His tiny knotted heart, well I guess it never worked too good...). because of the personal meaning they had never played it live until 2006 when they decided that if it could help others get over loss they should play it.
My favourite ever Phonics song. Awesome!
it's cool that stereophons like the hip. two of my fave bands
good version but to say that this is better than the hip's version is ridiculous
omg! The Tragically Hip's version is great, but that's breathtaking! fantastic job! <3
Not bad, but the original Hip version is far better--feels far more authentic, raw, and emotional. This is too polished.
Kellys voice on here is astonishing.
They truly were a great band that's for sure ☺️
First two Phonics albums are absolute gold
