This song was popular when I left home for college- January 1975. I will never forget-Lawrence KS. Good times- I graduated from nursing school- YESS?!!
According to compilations this song charted near the end of 1974/beginning of 1975.
David Allan Coe had a great version of this song.
Rest in the good news ??? Okay bye
This is basically a sad song about getting pass the years in your prime and finally understanding it’s all in the past and that your silver spurs are rusted now. I get it
Why are todays musicians/singers unable to make great songs like this ? Could it be because yesterdays talented artists wrote/played/ and sang all the great songs until they were all used up and todays so called singers/musicians can't create anything else ? Todays songs are a joke compared to songs like this.
For all the hard working cowboys, who wake up at sun up and go to bed at sundown.
Few men like these are hard to find. They tamed the west . ?️
New Mexico loves Cowboys.
Makes me cry still today!
Poor Midnight had to work his whole life
Universal appeal, those lyrics tell the story of all of us. I heard it in the UK In the 1970s, reminds me of my father and his love of horses. One of the last pics I took of him he was talking to a big white horse who really looked like he was smiling, kindred spirits.
For a couple of years my older brother Michael (God rest his soul) listen to music such as this, as an alternative to R&B. So many entertaining artist performing so many great songs.?
Almost 50 years later and this song still chokes me up.
