Opus Avantra's album Strata is a masterpiece of experimental music that defies classification. The album is a journey through a sonic landscape that is both challenging and rewarding. The musicianship on display is exceptional, with each member of the band contributing to the overall sound in unique and interesting ways.
The album is divided into four parts, each exploring a different aspect of Opus Avantra's sound. Part one, "The Book of Knots," is a haunting and atmospheric piece that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Part two, "The Seven Rays," is a more upbeat and lively track that showcases the band's versatility.
Part three, "The Mirror of Memories," is perhaps the most experimental piece on the album, with the band exploring a range of textures and sounds. Finally, part four, "The Last Night," brings the album to a satisfying conclusion, with a beautiful and moving piece that perfectly captures the mood of the album as a whole.

- Gatefold cover with insert.
- The thing that looks like Obi is not really an Obi but a part of insert that is folded, the porpose is same as Obi. Both the record and cover made in Italy and exported to Japan. And in Japan, the insert was added.This is the Japanese edition with insert of the Italian original.
- The word "Avantra" is a neologism, came from avant-garde + traditional(avanguardia + tradizionale in Italian), and the word well symbolizes their music. Difficult moments are really difficult, beautiful moments are really beautiful. This is not only a "must" to listen for Italian prog fans (I don't say must to have), but also good for German experimental music fans.
- Original release: Artis / ARLP 006 / 1989.
- Comes in a CD sized papersleeve album replica (gatefold), with Obi-strip and insert of notes mostly in Japanese.
- Track 11 is a bonus track (or "Extra Tracks" as it states on the release).

About Opus Avantra
Unclassifiable Italian rock, jazz, classical, avant-garde hybrid ensemble. Opus Avantra was the brainchild of Alfredo Tisocco, and featured classically trained singer Donella Del Monaco. They were chiefly active during the 1970's, but have sporadically reformed issuing further albums. Both Alfredo and Donella also work solo and in other projects.
