Review by Nebenjob von zuhause

The Middle East's album "I Want That You Are Always Happy" is a stunning collection of songs that showcases the band's unique blend of indie rock, folk, and world music influences. From the soaring melodies of "Black Death 1349" to the haunting beauty of "Mount Morgan," each track is a masterful exploration of emotion and sound.

The album's standout moments include the anthemic "Jesus Came to My Birthday Party" and the introspective "Hunger Song," both of which showcase the band's ability to weave intricate musical textures around deeply personal lyrics. The Middle East's musicianship is also on full display throughout the album, with each member contributing to the group's distinctive sound.

Que saudade dessa música, como essa banda faz falta ? queria que estivessem lançando até hoje
what EVEN this is beautiful
My fav song on the album
Only those lucky enough should find this music and cherish it.
Leigh and Sam were here.
Thank you x 10
This is so pure. <3
I hope that no bands like this become famous. They normally get ruined. This band is perfect.
if you listen really hard, you can hear a train in the background at the end 3:05 - 3:10, really cool, means they recorded it in townsville near their place without a sound cancelling studio, probably my favourite part about the song haha
put this on spotify pls!!!
Why isn't this on Spotify? It's one of my favorite songs of all time
the title Literally describe the shit hole that i live in , that people call middle east
dear lord, that instrumental chorus has to be one of the most beautiful things ever recorded.
The place I’m heading is mine
In the empty spaces there’s a line

The milky way

Nature’s largest river
Woven in silver
Will they ever return
Let the constellations be spurned
The centaur with the bow and arrow
The sisters pouring water

They’ve been whispering to me since I was born
The last thing I hear
First thing in the morn
Silver crown, first born
Mother left with her young daughters
Father left like racing river water

Life,
Keep me dry from the rain
Submerged in the pain
Warm my blood
As if the contract of birth says it should

These empty spaces
Where the beyond creeps along
I dream in black and white songs
The only way to leave the ballad
Drowning white water rapids

There’s a black eye watching over me
It’s a constellation I’ve seen
The first of its kind
It said it’s just mine
A broken trail
Waiting to unveil

The place I’m heading is my own
The empty alone

The milky way

Nature’s largest river
Woven in silver
Where constellations transcend
Where the river ends
Each star shines down from its throne
To me they light a trail shown
To my final home

Aww such a wonderful song. Heard the singer explain the album cover on JJJ - just a friend with a banana, doing the album cover, no big Cairns etc reference intended - just modelling with what was at hand.
Also that the band had already banana-split (shocked and saddened with myself for making that appalling pun) and that the band members were all scattered about the globe when this song got picked up for airplay on JJJ.
Singer of this song had to rejoin band in Cairns, from London.
Up there with Spring Rain, thanks to all band members and production and crew.
