Cuban-born percussionist (mainly conga and bongo) who backed many Afro-Cuban and straight-ahead jazz acts starting in the 1950s. Born April 22, 1921 in Regla (Havana), Cuba. Died November, 7, 2020 in New York, USA. He started his career as a percussionist for various groups in Havana, performing at the nightclubs and radio stations. If my memory serves me I believe this was recorded at Power Station Studio in NYC back in 1979. My name is Sandy Santana Jr. and I played a modified 1973 Strat on this song. Louis Small was on Piano, Norman Durham was on Bass and Vocals, Woody Cunningham was on Drums and Vocals. Al-Yasha was on Vocals and Kenny Warden was on Flugal Horn. Norman and Woody were from the group Kleeer that had a hit with Keep your body workin.
