Perisphere Shuffle Trylon Stomp by Les Brown And His Orchestra is an album that showcases the band's exceptional musical talent and versatility. The album features a variety of jazz and swing tunes that are sure to get listeners tapping their feet and nodding their heads.

The opening track, "Perisphere Shuffle," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its upbeat tempo and catchy melody. The band's tight rhythm section and horn arrangements create a sound that is both vintage and modern.

The album also features several vocal tracks, including "Sentimental Journey" and "I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good)." These songs showcase the vocal prowess of the band's singers and add a nice change of pace to the instrumental tracks.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Trylon Stomp," a lively instrumental tune that features a fantastic saxophone solo. The band's musicianship is on full display here, and it's clear that they are having a great time playing together.

Perisphere Shuffle Trylon Stomp is a fantastic album that is sure to delight fans of jazz and swing music. Les Brown And His Orchestra's talent and energy are evident in every track, making this a must-listen for anyone who loves big band music.

Comments

Unsung tenor man Wolfe Tayne leads off a fine array of solos by Ted Vesely, trombone; an unknown trumpet (either long time lead Bob Thorne, Les Kriz or Joe Gustaferro); Billy Rowland, piano; Brown on clarinet; Eddie Julian, drums.
Who can blame Les for trying to cash in on the '39 World's Fair, which was then garnering so much attention and fascination (as it continues to today!)? It would be a few years before the band really kicked into high gear, with Doris returning for a slew of big hits, beginning with the monster "Sentimental Journey," but nevertheless, as we hear, Les had a fine outfit in these relatively early days. '39 was a fantastic year for swing, and I can only imagine that, unless one's family was in truly dire financial circumstances, it must have been great fun to be a teenager then.
the 1939 World Fair which so few Europeans had the pleasure to visit...
That is not a foxtrot that is a quick step or a Lindy
Thx ?????
What sort of dance is the stomp? I think it goes back to the late twenties.
We visited the fair in 1940. The trylon was a triangular pylon.
and his Band of Renown
Yes, it is really the beginning of the swing era!
Soloists: Billy Rowland, piano; Brown, clarinet; Wolfe Tayne, tenor; Ted Vesely, trombone; unknown (Bob Thorne, Les Kriz or Joe Gustaferro), trumpet; Rowland.
I love the 1939 New York World’s Fair so much. Finding this was a nice treat.
Wonderful !
Ahhh, the subtleties of crescendos, a lost musical skill in today's popular recordings going back to the wall of sound of the 60s I suppose.
What a wonderful perisphere, to borrow the timely word, it must have been then for swing music lovers! Les hadn't yet acquired a truly distinctive sound -- he seems to have been striving for a combination of Basie, Goodman and maybe even the recently launched Miller band -- but, still, he managed solid swing here that was worthy of the lofty aspirations of that famous World's Fair.
Happy New Year!
