Review by Jacqueline O'Brien

The album "The Glee Club" by Five Go Down To The Sea is a delightful and energetic collection of post-punk tunes. The band's unique style combines elements of punk, funk, and pop to create a sound that is both catchy and danceable. The album's title track, "The Glee Club," is a standout, with its infectious chorus and driving rhythm. Other highlights include "The Kitchen Sink Drama," a funky number with a catchy bassline and memorable lyrics, and "The Singing Fisherman," a rollicking tune with a driving beat and catchy guitar riffs. "The Glee Club" is a fun and entertaining album that is sure to please fans of post-punk and alternative music.

About Five Go Down To The Sea

Post-punk group from Cork, Ireland. Donnelly & Dineen (both ex Nun Attax) met guitarist Mick Stack in 1981 and began to play together. They added cellist Una Ni Chanainn who they'd seen performing in a play with Mick Lynch (of the Mean Features). This 2 guitar and cello band evolved into Five Go Down To The Sea in 1982 with another ex Nun Attax Smelly on drums. When they moved to the UK in 1983, Una stayed behind. They released the "Knot A Fish" EP on Kabuki in 1983, the "Glee Club" EP on Abstract in 1984 and "Singing In Braille" on Creation in 1985, a unique trio of recordings which are highly recommended. When the band split in 1985, Mick Stack left for the USA, Smelly withdrew from live music and returned to Cork, while Donnelly & Dineen formed Beethoven.

It was intended to be released but it wasn't. You probably had a copy of the demo.
If this was never released I dunno how come I used to own it on a cassette tape back in 1983 - I think it was a Fanning session or something similar.
@Langer1X I see. I don't think it's from a radio session either right? Where did it come from?
