Review by Neil Miranda

Doug and The Slugs' album "Get Up Go Cover Of Love" is a fun and upbeat collection of covers that will have listeners dancing and singing along. The band's unique sound, which blends elements of rock, new wave, and soul, is on full display throughout the album.

One standout track is the band's cover of the classic song "Harlem Shuffle." Doug Bennett's vocals are perfectly suited to the song's catchy melody, and the band's lively instrumentation gives it a fresh and modern feel.

Another highlight is the band's take on the Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer." The Slugs infuse the song with their own energy, creating a version that is both faithful to the original and uniquely their own.

About Doug And The Slugs

A Vancouver based rock band, first formed in 1977. They are best known for the Canadian top 40 hits "Too Bad" (1980)(#20), "Making It Work" (1983)(#29), and "Tomcat Prowl" (1988)(#23). In the early nineties many of the original members left the group, but namesake Doug Bennett continued touring with different musicians under the same name until his death in 2004. After a gap of several years, the original Slugs (Baker, Bosley, Burton, Kendall, and Watson) reunited in 2009 and invited singer Ted Okos to be their new frontman. The group still performs live dates as Doug & The Slugs, although there is now no one named Doug in the band. See also for the 1981 single "Running Around / Be The Best".
