The Crows - I Love You So Gee

Review by Thomas Butler

Crows' latest album, I Love You So Gee, is a captivating and introspective journey through the band's unique sound. The album showcases the band's ability to blend elements of post-punk, shoegaze, and alternative rock into a cohesive and emotionally charged listening experience.

From the opening track, "Silver Tongues," it's clear that Crows have crafted an album that is both sonically diverse and thematically consistent. The band's signature blend of distorted guitars and atmospheric synths creates a sense of tension and urgency that persists throughout the entire album.

Standout tracks like "Demeanour" and "Crawling" demonstrate the band's ability to craft intricate and memorable melodies that stick with the listener long after the album has ended. Meanwhile, tracks like "Empyrean" and "Hang Me High" showcase the band's willingness to experiment with different textures and sounds, resulting in a dynamic and unpredictable listening experience.

Much, MUCH better than the Chantelle’s cover in ‘58. Jmo.
One of my all time favorites, Oldie but Goodies memorable times ...
I am looking for a song that my grandparents sang to each other many years ago but they cannot remember the name or find it anywhere :( If someone knows what song this is then it would make my grandparents very happy....

So my Grandad remembers it being a ballad from 50's or 60's. He also thinks maybe it was a B side record.

Lyrics they remember are: You mean more than life to me dear, and this you should know, why i just, cant live without you, I love you so.

When the nights are cold and dark i long for your touch. Need your tender arms around me, i love you so much
????
j'aime trop c'est fantastique c'est tellement génial j'adore ❤
This is a pinnacle point in music history 'Gee/I love you so' was the first teenage oriented True Rock n' Roll record to punch a hole through the Chart barrier of regular mainstream pop jazz country and what ever dull average parents/Grandparents music was hogging the stations of early 50's America ... Though there were others trying to break through, this was the one that really did cross over to the white and Latin American youth from black music culture and paved the way for others to follow way back in 1953 through to 1954 and when it dropped off the charts it still took 2 months for the next one to do the same and that was Sh-Boom by The Chords followed up 4 months later by Bill Haley and the Comets first RnR hit 'Rock around the Clock. By the end of 54 the floodgates were well and truly open for RnR with the likes of The Penguins Earth Angel, Elvis Presley That's alright, The Spaniels Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight, Carl Perkins Blue Suede Shoes, Johnny Ace Pledging my Love, The Wrens Come Back my Love, The Platters Only You, and many more charting Rock n' Roll hits one after the other to create the legendary era .
Great song, and cool to know that "GEE"was the first Rn'R hit by a group.
Another Beautiful Hit single from The Crows as it is also Called I Love You So as it did come out in 1953
A Timeless Classic hit single from 1953 as it is by The Crows as it is also Called I Love You So as it only reached 2 on THe R&B singles chart
Nice! Never realized that The Chantels' rendition was a cover of this. Beautiful!
