Review by Sven Herold

Marie "Queenie" Lyons' album See And Don't See Daddys House is a soulful and powerful collection of tracks that showcase her impressive vocal range and songwriting skills. The album features a mix of upbeat and slower tracks, each with its own unique sound and style.

Lyons' voice is the star of the album, with her soulful and emotive vocals shining on tracks like "Daddy's House" and "I Don't Want Nobody to Have It But You." Her lyrics are equally impressive, with poignant and introspective themes that explore love, loss, and resilience.

The album's production is also noteworthy, with a blend of classic soul and funk elements that give the tracks a timeless feel. The use of horns, strings, and percussion adds depth and texture to the songs, creating a rich and vibrant sound.

What a voice!
Great tune and therefore in my "Groove Magicians" playlist
Great music but why the Betty Davis photos?
My drum teacher, Roy James, played drums with Queenie (and dated her) in the mid-60s. Roy had some great stories about those times. He vividly described Queenie as a top-notch high-energy show person.

I used to play guitar in Queenie's band when she wore blond wigs. We had a good time
