Review by Hal Golden

Claude Léveillée's album, The Last Ball, is a beautiful collection of songs that showcase the artist's incredible talent and versatility. The album features a mix of original compositions and covers, all of which are performed with Léveillée's signature style and grace.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Le Dernier Bal," a hauntingly beautiful ballad that serves as the album's title track. Léveillée's vocals are tender and emotive, perfectly capturing the bittersweet sentiment of the song. Another standout track is "Mon Pays," a powerful anthem that celebrates the beauty and resilience of Canada.

Throughout the album, Léveillée's musical arrangements are impeccable, with each song featuring a unique blend of instruments and textures. From the soaring strings of "Le Dernier Bal" to the jazzy piano of "Le Jazz et la Java," the album offers a rich and varied musical landscape.

Notes

English-titled vinyl single culled from Claude Léveillée's "Black Sun" album recording sessions. Like Lee Gagnon's conceptual ballet "Jeremie", Leveillée's 'Black Sun' recordings were conceived and composed for a theatrical "ballet" named "Fleur de Lit", a collaboration with Michel LeFrançois. ......best described as accomplished instrumental symphonic melodic but progressive pop-rock and funk.
