Origins, the latest album by Camille Thurman, is a captivating blend of jazz, blues, and soul that showcases her exceptional talent as a musician and vocalist. From the very first notes of the opening track, "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes," Thurman's smooth and sultry voice draws the listener in, backed by a tight and dynamic band that includes some of today's top jazz players.
Throughout the album, Thurman demonstrates her versatility as a vocalist, effortlessly shifting between ballads, upbeat swing tunes, and soulful blues numbers. Her saxophone playing is equally impressive, with soaring solos that are both technically impressive and emotionally expressive.
One standout track is "Inside the Moment," a haunting ballad that showcases Thurman's ability to convey deep emotion through her voice and saxophone. Another highlight is "Rhonda's Tune," a swinging tribute to legendary jazz pianist Rhonda Scott.
