Love And Slows by Buddy Tate Featuring Roy Williams is a fantastic album that showcases the talent and skill of these two incredible musicians. The album is a mix of jazz standards and original compositions, all played with a level of expertise and passion that is truly impressive.
Buddy Tate's saxophone playing is simply sublime, with each note ringing out clear and true. His solos are full of energy and emotion, and he has a real knack for finding the perfect melody to suit each song. Roy Williams' trombone playing is equally impressive, with a rich, warm tone that blends perfectly with Tate's sax.
The album features a range of different styles, from upbeat swing numbers to slow, soulful ballads. Each track is beautifully arranged, with plenty of space for both Tate and Williams to shine. The rhythm section is also top-notch, providing a solid foundation for the two frontmen to build on.
Love And Slows is a must-listen for any fan of jazz music. Buddy Tate and Roy Williams are both masters of their craft, and their collaboration on this album is nothing short of stunning. Highly recommended.
Those days of sensual, intimate, (some would say sexy), lyrical and very personalised playing is long gone. Buddy recorded several “Midnight Slow” albums for the excellent (French) *Black & Blue* label. What we are listening to now is pure (and very close) soft-shuffle dance for those late hours with a nice bottle of Bordeaux! So yes folks, start slowly dancing to that great relaxing swing-jazz, of times gone by. Enjoy the trip & Cheers!
