Review by Jeannette Quiñones-Cantore

Blaak Heat's latest album, Shifting Mirrors, is a psychedelic masterpiece that showcases the band's versatility and creativity. The album features a fusion of Middle Eastern and Western music, with elements of traditional Arabic music blending seamlessly with heavy rock riffs and psychedelic soundscapes.

The opening track, "Anatolia," sets the tone for the album with its hypnotic guitar riffs and swirling percussion. The vocals are delivered in a haunting, otherworldly style that adds to the mystical vibe of the track. "The Approach to Al-Mu'tasim" is another standout track, with its driving rhythm and intricate guitar work.

One of the album's highlights is the instrumental track, "Ballad of Zeta Brown." The band's musicianship is on full display here, with intricate guitar solos and a tight rhythm section. The track builds to a frenzied climax before fading into the ambient soundscape of "Black Hawk."

Comments

Blaak Heat / Shujaa has some serious bass lines. So good to hear the bass guitar being used it should be. Geddy Lee should be lovin' these bass lines.
