Review by Sue Iwan

In The Pines is a bluegrass album by Bill Monroe & His Blue Grass Boys that was released in 1972. The album consists of 12 tracks that showcase the band's exceptional musicianship and Monroe's distinctive vocals.

The album's title track, "In The Pines," is a haunting traditional song that has been covered by numerous artists over the years. Monroe's version is particularly memorable, with his mournful vocals and the band's tight harmonies. Other standout tracks include "My Rose Of Old Kentucky," "Footprints In The Snow," and "Memories Of Mother."

The instrumentation on the album is superb, with Monroe's mandolin leading the way and the other band members providing impeccable support. The album's production is also noteworthy, with a clear and crisp sound that allows the listener to appreciate the nuances of the music.

I heard a parody to this song, titled "blow our noses in the snow" but that was years ago so I would like to find the lyrics.
My mother used to play this on the guitar and sing this song to me when I was a small child.
I'm here because of this french cover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9KVeX6djjI
How do I get a stimulus check ? I never received my first one either . Any help would be appreciated . Last filled out taxes in 2018
Don't that knock yor hat in the creek ?Don't that far you up? Don't that shuck ye corn?
I remember listening to this song when I was about 8 years old. What beautiful music...it makes my soul sing. Thank you youtube and to the person who took their time to record this. God bless you!
You need to change your description, “footprints in the snow” was released in 1946 not 1952!
Never been able to get this song out of my head from 1986 WAMC Albany playing it often when I lived up there
I must be old cause I remember this the first time around.
@Rikkyhardo Considering your last two comments, I assess you to be a danger to animals every where when you are motorin'. I shall report you to peta immidiately and the anti-fox hunting party will strip you of your license..ha ha ha
Recorded 18th July 1952 at Castle Studios , Nashville. Personnel :- Bill Monroe ( vocal and mandolin), Jimmy Martin ( guitar), Sonny Osborne ( banjo), Ernie Newton ( bass), Charlie Cline ( fiddle) . Pretty decent line up I would say!!
When CMT was worth listening to... now it's pay to listen (music sucks too)
WOWWWWWWW NEED A LOT OF BEER FOR THIS ONE BROTHER ,,,DOOSSSYYY DOOOOUUU
I'm 53 and just discovered this music.Awesome.
Mr. Monroe RIP our former USA is gone now.
everyone say his age lol so i'm 35yo (near 36) and same i'm musician i was bassist but now i'm a banjo picker because of one band " linked" to the style a band of "rockgrass" called Hayseed dixies in short it's  metal/rock song covered with bluegrass intruments and style of playing but keeping rock technique in ! please go look at them!  Bill monroe is the father of blugrass so it's one of the "gods" of my music ;)!
I'm 62 man, and discovered this music about about 3 or 4 years ago ... and realised bluegrass is awesome
The nerve of Bill to travel back in time 50 years and nick a Nirvana song. I'm outraged!
K K K BITCH !! ?????
Kurt Cobain caught the spirit of this song as well as the others. we don't own these performances, they are in a spirit that lives on.
How many people know this is about a cave?
Hard to believe Nirvana covered this song 50 years after this.
Heads it's Leadbelly, tails it's Monroe: either side we win.
