One More Drifter In The Snow, the holiday album by Aimee Mann, is a delightful departure from her usual melancholic fare. The album features a mix of classic holiday tunes and original songs, all with a distinct Mann twist.
Mann's signature voice is as hauntingly beautiful as ever, and her arrangements are both playful and restrained. The album's standout tracks include "Christmastime," a melancholic tune about the joys and sorrows of the season, and "Calling on Mary," a hauntingly beautiful original song that captures the longing and hope of the holiday season.
Artist:Aimee Mann Album: One More Drifter In The Snow
Throughout the album, Mann proves herself to be a master of mood and atmosphere. Her arrangements are lush and evocative, and her lyrics are both poetic and accessible. One More Drifter In The Snow is a holiday album that will appeal to both fans of Mann's music and those looking for a fresh take on classic holiday tunes. Highly recommended.
Aimee has been one of my top three, female, singer/songwriters for many years (since 1983-1985) when she co-founded the band, "Till Tuesday. I loved her small role in the movie "The Big Lebowski" as the; "missing the right little green toe German nihilist." Aimee's songs, music and lyrics are intelligent, heartfelt and passionate. She has such a unique, sultry, tugging at the heart voice, which for me, my wife and children is simply ... heavenly. In our humble opinion, she truly is an American treasure. "Calling on Mary" is a perfect example of what I've posted here. Grace and blessings to all.
