Review by Ben Rilot

The Story of Wish You Were Here is a breathtaking album that captures the essence of Pink Floyd's most iconic work. Released in 2011, the album is a tribute to the band's legendary album, Wish You Were Here, which was released in 1975.

The album features interviews with the band members, including Roger Waters and David Gilmour, as they reflect on the making of Wish You Were Here. The documentary-style album is a fascinating look into the creative process that went into making one of the most iconic albums in rock history.

The Story of Wish You Were Here also includes rare footage and previously unreleased tracks, making it a must-have for any Pink Floyd fan. The album's production is top-notch, with every track sounding crisp and clear.

my favorite floyd album. not due to popularity. this album is personal, very deep, it speaks words that nothing can, it’s pure, deep, and speaks to the heart. when you read the lyrics for shine on you crazy diamond, you think of someone you miss. someone you love, just like how the band missed and loved roger “syd” barrett. shine on, you crazy diamond
In there search for a higher truth, their fear and greed and lust took them to the devil and I truly hope these great writers of music surrender to corny old god and jesus before they die. I fear this is too simple and mundane for them.
Because they over thought everything, they seemed to feel embarrassed that they like many others wanted fame and fortune. They got it and but are left with fear and embarrassment. They really suffer from this English reserve and repression. They were repressed men that were desperately needing to express themselves and they freed themselves through their music. But did they really??? This might sound corny but they need not to search for god, but to surrender to god. And I do think Rogers is misunderstand, he really loved Syd Barrett. I also feel that these middle class Englishmen are also embarrassed that they made their money from Rock and Roll. I also find it strange that they dont seem to get off on performing, but they really really do. All English repression, probably due to them not having fathers.
i would consider this as one of the great guitar albums of all time
i put the sticker on my Acoustic Guitar...
I love Pink Floyd.
Tremendous emotional honesty. There is also generosity in letting us into the creative process, warts and all.
The poignancy of Syd appearing like a ghost in the recording studio, with a sense of where he belongs but no ticket to get back there...searing.
They're kind to eachother these days. Which is just as well. There is no other way to be; in the end when everything else is stripped back, there is only love left.
What a journey.
They took us to places and let us breathe and feel authentically.
What more can you ask for from a bunch of artists?

PS I was astounded to find out they 'discovered' and helped Kate Bush.

This was amazing and informative! Pink Floyd has been a beloved band of my generation. This particular LP has always been my fav. I never gave Dark Side of the Moon a chance because I lost a very dear friend who died of an overdose while listening to it. We were only 14. I am 61 now. you'd think I'd be over it by now, eh? But each time I try to listen to it, it makes me feel shitty and back in that place again. But I would say I think Dark Side is exceptional as well. I have heard enough of it to know it's a great work as well.
The Wish u Were here song means alot to me....

I recall on my darkest moment, prison the first time, walking into a Unit not knowing anyone n i saw a guitar... I walked over too it, not caring whos it was, n walking up onto the stairs, n sat down n started playing this song as i always played it n i was missing my missus.... The place went silent with the guys just listening, n once the vocals kicked in, the whole place erupted into song.... Was a great moment i must say
Whoever it was who thought it would be a great prank to get Syd to turn up, is Evil.
The story goes that Syd got a call from someone saying P.F wanted Syd to put a bit of guitar on the album. Syd was living at Chelsea Cloisters which is about 15 minutes away from Abbey Road studios. Someone made that call at the expense of ridiculing syd and making him the joke. Got him past security and got him in the studio ..With Syd asking Waters when it was his turn to play ..
It is just the most evil thing to have done to him. Poor guy..
How is it possible for some boys from England to take Delta Blues of the United States and interpret it PERFECTLY. AMAZING. ?
The thing I’ve never heard explained about Syd just randomly appearing at Abbey Road is why was he there?! How was he there?! Did someone bring him to see the band or was it really some monumental coincidence like they always seem to make out?
don't accept a leading role in a cage.

When I was a teenager I had issues with insomnia. During a stay at my aunt and uncle's place one summer that all changed. My Uncle listened to this album often and one night he had it playing when I want to bed. I literally fell asleep within 5 minutes of laying my head on my pillow. To this day if I ever have an issue sleeping, this beautiful album will always lull me into dream land. RIP Uncle George! Wish you were here! ❤️
I fucking love that all their songs were written with a specific purpose, meaning and message. Too many bands and artists write nonsense cryptic lyrics and slap on the lazy 'it's open to interpretation' tag - simply because they really have nothing to say
Syd Barrett hangs like a specter over Pink Floyd's entire history. No matter which era, he is there

Thank you so much for uploading this.

The Song Lyrics In Wish You Were Here Remind Me Of Being In L A Prison System
How does one decide between Dark Side and Wish You... For me, the former marks their intellectual zenith but the latter is their emotional zenith. The one is the unleashing of their collective minds, the other is the unleashing of their collective hearts. Equal but different and both, brilliant.
