About Me: Started when Dakota (My Siberian husky) and I moved to Poughkeepsie, NY, so that I could go back to school for my bachelors degree in Baking and Pastry Management with a concentration in Wine and Beverage at The Culinary Institute of America.
We moved into a small two bedroom apartment together. Being a Maryland native, New York was a big change for the two of us. I started this blog to share my journey through school, my food, recipes, vineyards, friends and whatever other fun and exciting things I can think of!
My family owns Kupcakes & Co; a small bakery in Elkridge, MD. It all started after I underwent spinal fusion surgery in 2008, acquiring two 20in metal rods and eighteen screws in my spine. While I recovered, I struggled to eat properly, so doctors and friends suggested that I watch the Food Network. Thus started my love and passion for pastry and wine. My passion for pastry grew and I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Thanks to my mom, that dream (as a small 8th grader) became my reality with our bakery; Kupcakes & Co.
I started at The Culinary Institute of America in July 2012. I went through their Baking & Pastry Program. I took a wines class during this program, which I actually earned a D in... I think I drank a little too much instead of actually studying. My teacher always told us to spit after we tried the different wines, but every time he spit it would hit the bottom of his cup, so I never truly believed that he actually spit the wine...Anyways, I became obsessed with wines, vintages, vineyards...everything.
Now Dakota and I are onto our next journey... We are here in New York until December 2015. Then my next adventure begins alone in... Napa Valley, CALIFORNIA! For the CIA's Wine and Beverage concentration program.
I want to thank all the amazing people who have supported me through my journey. I wouldn't be who I am today without them. My mom has never denied me of my dreams. She continually supports and does what she can to help me. As does my dad, twin sister, Allison, Grandparents and wonderfully supportive boyfriend Alex (who continually stays by my side no matter what new thing I decide to venture into).
I hope you all enjoy my blog! Share my story, my food, my recipes and leave some funny comments!
