- Willis Cooper was born outside of Matador, Texas on April 6, 1911. He attended 17 schools before graduating from high school During the Depression he sold International Tractors, sang with the Green Later Boys in Denver, Colorado and then spent most of the 50s and 60s raising sheep in New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas. He retired and moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1979. The poems/songs you hear tell part of his life story. Some treat characters from his childhood while others chronicle what Wills calls "hard life" experiences. This recording is a gift back to Willis for all the stories he has shared. Six hours, a bottle of J&B Scotch and memories I'll never forget. Tim Closs 12/1/89.
