Review by Chris Hahn

Rigoletto, one of Giuseppe Verdi's most celebrated operas, has been transformed into a masterpiece thanks to the incredible talents of Tito Gobbi, Maria Callas, Giuseppe di Stefano, and Tullio Serafin. This album is a must-have for any opera lover, as the performers bring the tragic story of the hunchbacked court jester, Rigoletto, to life with their stunning vocals and emotional performances.

Tito Gobbi's portrayal of Rigoletto is nothing short of incredible. His powerful baritone voice perfectly captures the character's complex emotions, from his bitterness towards the courtiers who mock him to his love for his daughter, Gilda. Maria Callas, who plays Gilda, is equally impressive. Her soaring soprano voice is full of emotion, particularly in her heart-wrenching aria "Caro nome."

Giuseppe di Stefano, who plays the Duke of Mantua, is also outstanding. His rich tenor voice is perfectly suited for the Duke's seductive arias, and he brings a sense of swagger and arrogance to the character. Finally, Tullio Serafin's conducting is masterful, bringing out the nuances and complexities of Verdi's score.
