Review by Badr Eljindi

The Velvet Hands' latest album, Party's Over, is a rollicking good time from start to finish. With a sound that's equal parts garage rock and punk, the Cornwall-based band delivers 10 tracks that are sure to get listeners' blood pumping.

The album kicks off with "Sick of Living," a high-energy track that sets the tone for what's to come. From there, the band keeps the momentum going with songs like "This Feeling" and "Habit," which showcase their knack for crafting catchy hooks and driving rhythms.

Lead singer Toby Mitchell's vocals are raw and gritty, perfectly complementing the band's aggressive sound. Meanwhile, the guitar work of Dan Able and Sam Hilder is tight and frenetic, adding to the overall sense of urgency that permeates the album.

While the songs on Party's Over are undeniably fun, they also tackle some weighty subjects. "Hate" is a scathing indictment of bigotry and intolerance, while "Only Blame Myself" deals with the aftermath of a failed relationship.

About The Velvet Hands

With various comparisons to an early Rolling Stones, brand new Cornwall / London rockers, The Velvet Hands are, according to feedback a wonderful mess, a soundtrack for demolition. (Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music) with snarling vocals and intense riffs (GigSlutz) that is full of bolshy spirit. (NME). Very much looking and sounding the part, they encompass elements of The Strokes in their Garage rock n roll story telling. There is swagger in their tunes but sufficient depth in what they're saying to be taken seriously. They may be fresh faced, but these are not nursery rhymes.
