Review by Daily Disciples

The Story of Trojan Records is a compilation album that takes the listener on a journey through the history of one of the most influential record labels in Jamaican music. The album features tracks from some of the biggest names in reggae, including Bob Marley & the Wailers, Desmond Dekker, and Jimmy Cliff.

The album kicks off with Desmond Dekker's classic hit "Israelites," which sets the tone for the rest of the collection. From there, listeners are treated to a mix of ska, rocksteady, and roots reggae, with standout tracks including The Maytals' "54-46 Was My Number," The Pioneers' "Long Shot Kick De Bucket," and The Upsetters' "Return of Django."

Throughout the album, the listener is given a sense of the cultural and political context in which these songs were created, with many tracks touching on themes of social justice and resistance. The album also features extensive liner notes, which provide a fascinating insight into the history of Trojan Records and the wider Jamaican music scene.

Incidental and all but my son is 14 and studying blacksmithing and sports, so I bought him a St Pauli strip for Christmas...
Nice. Like extreme opp of Neil diamond with ub40 too. All great. Any others did it?

The extended version is even better with that lil bit of dub ??
This is the best version .
Thanks for posting this; on any given day, my favorite version of the song can be Tony Tribe's, UB40's, or Neil Diamond's original version! Interesting that Neil started performing it more in the Reggae style because he liked UB40's interpretation. Great song!
Me Too UB40 Tony Tribe & Neil Diamond the writer but because Music transends all cultures & differences which personally I do not like.... It's a Lovely up beat tune. A feel good factor 10
RIP Astro!! Thank you! ? Here is a toast to you and Reggae music!!
Tony Tribe is the 'BEST!'. It's sad how they keep playing the UB40 version. That group butchered so many Reggae classics. The music industry only play UB40s crap version because they are white. SMH
Better than the original in my opinion, no disrespect, big up to Neil Diamond
Huge!
I haven't heard this for a long time lol
