The Superjesus are one of Australias most respected 'Live' heavy rock outfits.
The band originally formed in Adelaide South Australia around Lead Vocalist & Guitar Playing 'Demon' Sarah McLeod (her sister Leah is a well known Australian Actor), Stuart Rudd on Bass Guitar & Backing Vocals, Paul Berryman on Drums & Percussion Arrangements and Chris Tennent On Lead Guitar & Backing Vocals. Sarah had by this time already performed in another South Australian Band ('Fallen Down Monster') and was already making a name for herself as a guitar player on stage, while Stuart & Chris had been playing together for just over 12 Months when Sarah was invited to join them after Stuart Rudd met Sarah for the first time and 'they just clicked' during an earlier (different) band audition.
Despite the different line ups over the years, The Superjesus has always had the same core membership of Sarah McLeod & Stuart Rudd in all its different forms Over the years its been in existence.
During the late 1990s the band won 3 x ARIA Awards and released 3 platinum albums; 'Sumo', 'Jet Age' and 'Rock Music'.
They are best known in Australia for their hit singles 'Gravity', 'Secret Agent Man', 'Enough To Know', 'Shut My Eyes', 'Down Again', 'Now And Then' and many more.
The Superjesus are no doubt one of Australias most successful and respected rock bands who remain a staple on Aussie rock radio to this day.
During 2003-2004 the band members all elected to 'take a break' to work on separate solo projects, before then reforming again in 2013, releasing their own independent and well received EP 'Love And Violence' (their career started with an independent EP being released, so in a way things had come full circle!)
In 2017, The Superjesus were inducted into the South Australian Music Hall Of Fame.
2018 then kicked off with the band touring the country alongside of other Artists like 'Jebediah', 'Killing Heidi', 'Dallas Frasca' and 'Grinspoon' on the well received 'Hotter Than Hell Tour'.
This was closely followed by Sarah starring in Green Days 'American Idiot' The Musical, sharing the pivotal role of 'St Jimmy' with Another Pair of Australian Musical Legends; The Lead Vocalist of 'Magic Dirt' ('Adalita') and Lead Singer of the ever popular 'Grinspoon' (Phil Jamieson), which toured all over Australia and received 'rave reviews'.
In 2018 The Superjesus completed a massive Australian tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their Debut Album 'Sumo', in conjunction with a Remastered Re-Release of the Album itself in Australia.
The newest form of the Band is now made up around Sarah & Stuart along with Jason Slack on lead guitar (who joined originally back in 2001) and a completely New Drummer/Percussionist Travis Dragani (who joined in 2016).
They completed 36 shows all around the country, and every single performance was broken into two individual sets or sessions with a 20 Minute Intermission between each set, the total concert time in every case was over two and a half hours - an almost unheard of length to perform on stage (excluding the Intermission Break).
The only thing that even came remotely close was 'Eskimo Joe's' recent Anniversary Tour with a Full Chamber Orchestra in Support, which was also All over Australia and had a Concert Runtime of close to two hours as well.
The Response to the Tour both Critically and from those who attended was extremely positive and It has now become one of their most successful tours ever upto this date, and it was also met with glowing reviews from both the media and the people it was for the most - the fans.
The event itself was captured in the form of Sumo 20 Live, a Vinyl double LP album recorded live at The Zoo in Brisbane Qld and at The Manning Bar in Sydney NSW.
It has since been also released Digitally (with extra tracks not on the LP - available on the Superjesus Music Sites within Varied Platforms like Soundcloud etc) and is also available on a USB Stick from the bands website as an unedited 'Concert' DVD.
The band have also just released their first new single in 6 years!!
The song is Titled The Impossible, has its own Music Video, and involves the same lineup as the Sumo Tour.
The song itself is written by Sara, who has a life long Fascination with S/F and Space Travel in general, and is all about the minority of people that still believe in 'moon landing conspiracy theories', and has been released on both Vinyl & Digital formats.
They were also in the process of undertaking a highly successful Overseas Tour to Brazil & South America over 2019-2020, that was then unfortunately cut short due to the rapidly deteriorating health situation in those countries as a result of the virus effecting those areas.
A new Album is also underway with no release date as yet announced, but the writing is 'well underway', with an expected release date of sometime in 2021 at this stage (Sept 2019).
