Review by Crystal Bellinger

Simon H Fell's latest album, Frank Max, is a masterpiece of avant-garde jazz. The album showcases Fell's exceptional bass playing skills, as well as his ability to compose and arrange complex pieces of music.

The album consists of six tracks, each of which is unique and engaging. The opening track, "Fracture," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its intricate rhythms and dissonant harmonies. "One for Frank" is a tribute to Frank Zappa, and features Fell's bass playing in a prominent role.

The album's centerpiece is the 20-minute long "Max," which showcases Fell's ability to create a cohesive and engaging piece of music that evolves over time. The track features a range of moods and textures, from the frenetic to the contemplative.

Throughout the album, Fell is joined by a talented group of musicians, including saxophonist Mark Hanslip, drummer Tony Bianco, and guitarist Alex Ward. The musicians work together seamlessly to create a cohesive and dynamic sound.
