The Scabs are one of the most successful Belgian rock bands. The group was founded in Diest in 1981 by (vocals, guitar), (bass), (guitar) and (drums). Throughout its history the group knew several line-up changes. Originally more punk-oriented, the arrival of guitarist (coming from ) in 1985 resulted in a change of musical direction, playing more straightforward rock 'n' roll. In 1996 the group was disbanded but it was reformed in 2007 to celebrate its 25th anniversary. They released their last album "Ways Of A Wild Heart" in 2015. The Scabs are best known for their hit singles "Matchbox Car" (1983) and "Hard Times" (1991), which have become classics on Belgian radio.
