Robert Hood's latest album, Hoodlum, is a masterclass in techno production. The Detroit-born DJ and producer has been a mainstay of the genre for over three decades, and Hoodlum shows that he's lost none of his touch when it comes to crafting hypnotic, propulsive dancefloor tracks.
The album opens with "The Undefeated," a brooding, atmospheric track that sets the tone for what's to come. From there, Hood takes the listener on a journey through a series of driving, rhythmic tracks that are perfect for late-night clubbing.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "7 Mile Dog," which features a relentless bassline and haunting synth melodies that build to a crescendo. Another highlight is "Fear Not," which has a more stripped-back feel but is no less effective in its hypnotic groove.
