Review by Mbui Suleiman

Ahab The Arab, the album by Ray Stevens with The Merry Melody Singers, is a fun and energetic collection of songs that will transport listeners to the Middle East. The album features Stevens' signature humor and wit, as well as his impressive vocal range and musical talent.

The standout track on the album is undoubtedly the title track, "Ahab The Arab," which tells the story of a wealthy sheik who falls in love with a belly dancer. Stevens' playful lyrics and catchy melody make this song an instant classic, and it's easy to see why it became such a big hit when it was released in 1962.

Other highlights include "Scratch My Back (I Love It)," a playful duet with The Merry Melody Singers that showcases Stevens' comedic timing, and "The Battle of Kookamonga," a hilarious parody of the classic western song "Ghost Riders in the Sky."

Not the original version I pantomimed to in the mid '60. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNigDOHz4j0
just awesome, real funny stuff.
This came out while I was station in Morocco (Sidi Slimane AFB). It was played once on the AFRS radio & immediately banned for obvious reasons. Circa 1962-63.
im an Arab and i find this fucking hilarious !
Hilarious. A beautiful spoof on (even then) overworked "Arabian Nights" cliches.
love this tune but not the original
Hoot..revenge of Donald Trump..
All you guys are absolutely right... the Hell with political correctness... freedom of speech for all... I should be able to call Americans an ignorant racist people without it starting a fight, right? Very funny stuff!!! :)
Helluva tale
This is politically Who Cares !? it's funny
I wonder how many DJ'S today would be CHICKEN SHIT to toss this on..LOL
My Texan, Cajun, Granpa has this on cassette tape and I've been listening to it with him since I was a baby! It's one of his favorite songs and has been since he was in college! Now I'm 18 and I still love listening to it with him!

He makes sure all of his grandkids listen to it whenever we go over to his Christian, conservative, capitalist, household????
This is a weird version. The goofy gold version I remember sounded less polished and also said “a booger in her nose.”
Now that's funny.
Dear girlfriend, you broke my heart and I have joined the French Foreign Legion.  I am now defending a fort in Timbuktu. One mile to the south lies an extensive jungle.  The Heart of Africa.  Filled with Headshrinkers, pygmies, headhunters, cannibals and worse who threarten to attack us at any moment.    Miss you,  your boyfriend.
Could this be published to day in an era of PC ?
PTSD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is this the 1994 version? eh
before the patients ran the nut house
still funny
what? I thought this was politically correct? Well here , it is always correct to laugh and have fun..
oh shit dat me lmao
Love to see this performed at the White House
These were the "golden days" when you could mock a culture that bears no resemblance to our own. Like all good parody, it's based on fact. Here in America, we believe in Free Speech! If you don't like it, Piss Off!
This is so friggin funny!
