Review by Brian Fredrick

Swingville by Prestige All Stars is a classic jazz album that showcases the talents of some of the greatest jazz musicians of the 1950s. The album features a tight-knit ensemble of musicians, including John Coltrane, Gene Ammons, and Art Farmer, among others.

The album opens with the upbeat and lively track "Jug Ain't Gone", which sets the tone for the rest of the album. From there, the musicians take turns showcasing their individual talents, with each track featuring a different soloist.

One standout track is "Blues Up and Down", which features a soulful saxophone solo by Gene Ammons. Another highlight is "Lester Leaps In", a tribute to legendary saxophonist Lester Young, which features a dynamic and energetic performance by John Coltrane.

Ah Nat Pierce ! Beautiful....
At one stage these great swingers were all part of the Count Basie Band. Freddie Green (aka Rhythm Willie) has been the longest member of the band. He’s strummed on the rhythm- guitar for almost 50 years in that incredible band, even longer than Basie. Nat Pierce (sometimes a fill-in) sounds almost like Basie. This is a great swingin’ & stompin’ tribute to the man who had, imo, the best ever Swingingest Big Band. Enjoy it folks & Cheers!
Topnotch!
Thanks for Posting. Probably one of Walter Page's last recordings.
All star Line Up!
Super!!!??????☝
How excellent !!!   I especially like F・Green.
Terumasa Hino was playing exactly Miles Davis. Some American jazz musician told him,"You are playing Miles Davis. It is not good. Play your own style."
Splendid.
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! My kind of Jazz!!!! Swings like mad!!!! Thank you!!!! ?
How can I get such a full, "juicy" trumpet tone? Maybe I should exchange my mouth for another one - my wife always says, I'm foul-mouthed anyway.
