Review by Bruna Guerreiro

Album 1700 by Peter, Paul & Mary is a classic folk album that showcases the group's signature harmonies and socially conscious lyrics. Released in 1967, the album features hits like "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and "I Dig Rock and Roll Music."

The album opens with "Rolling Home," a traditional folk song that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The group's harmonies are tight and precise, creating a warm and inviting sound that draws the listener in.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Leaving on a Jet Plane." The song, written by John Denver, became a huge hit for the group and is still a beloved classic today. Peter, Paul & Mary's version is beautifully arranged, with Mary Travers' vocals soaring over the group's gentle guitar accompaniment.

Another highlight is "I Dig Rock and Roll Music," a playful tribute to the music of the 1960s. The song features references to popular bands and songs of the era, and the group's harmonies are particularly impressive on the chorus.

Throughout the album, Peter, Paul & Mary tackle a variety of social and political issues. "The Great Mandala (The Wheel of Life)" is a powerful anti-war song that urges listeners to "look to the stars and imagine what if." "Whatshername" is a poignant ballad about a woman who has been forgotten by society.

Hi Alexis -
Thank you so much for uploading this song - one of my all-time favorites. Here are the words:
ROLLING HOME sung by Peter, Paul and Mary
I was a teen when this came out & i learned every song, this was my favorite! Sang it with one of my sisters harmonizing together for a club’s luncheon!
Not as good as the original by John, but it made him a super star.
I was thinking of my favorite man and this song came to mind.l.only been in love with him since 1974 the year l turned 21.i met him the month after l turned 21!
Flashback to my childhood❤
The best version of this wonderful song, absolutely fantastic.
Brilliant vocal arrangement. They don’t just “harmonize” like most groups, they sing three different, independent melodic lines simultaneously.
Mike Palivoda is so so special?
quite a decent version
I'm leaving on a freight train...
Nice version but feels more personal in the John Denver version given that he wrote it
In the Fall of 1969 this was the theme song of my VISTA Volunteer training group. We sang to it whenever it came on the radio, or acapella when we were together. It reminded us of the people we had left behind as we embarked on this adventure. Listening to it now brings back warm memories of Jim and Geraldine and Ann and John and Steve and Lois and all those wonderful people.

I have this album. I loved this song at a very young age.
1969 one of the greatest years of my life I was 14 and carefree
One of the most beautiful love songs from that era.
First time I heard this song, it was on a jet plane back to my ship in San Diego. Unfortunately, the girl I left behind in NYC was leaving me behind in her life. Ironically, the girl I married a few years later, met me at an airport after an overseas trip to England. Funny how life is.
I heard the mentioned of the Mamas and Papas hehe?
I got this album before I was a teenager. As a retired diplomat and grandfather, it still speaks to me. Yes, it is a bit of my Madeleine, but the songs themselves are so rich and addictive in and of themselves, from the lyrics to the guitar work to the always superb harmonies. Peter, Pail and Mary and Simon and Garfunkel were the soundtrack to my childhood.
The House Songr I lived in the attic. God Bless America, God Save The Republic.
The best PPM album I can still hear my father sing every song on this album he has been dead 10 years but every song its like he is still here .
Missing an old friend.
