Review by Tetiana Aleksina

Paul Revere and The Raiders, one of the most successful rock bands of the 1960s, released a special edition album entitled "Paul Revere and The Raiders Special Edition" in 2019. The album features some of the band's greatest hits, including "Kicks," "Hungry," and "Good Thing."

The album showcases the band's signature sound, which is a blend of rock, pop, and garage rock. The tracks are filled with infectious melodies, catchy hooks, and memorable lyrics that will have listeners singing along in no time.

The album also includes some lesser-known tracks, such as "Ups and Downs," "Tighter," and "Why, Why, Why." These tracks provide a deeper insight into the band's musical style and demonstrate their versatility as musicians.

This version was even released in The Netherlands , with a nice picture cover !
Rest in peace , Steve. Thanks for the memories and the music ? ?
This doesn't sound like Mark Lindsey at all.
Always been my default version. Pura vida ?
Nope, I'll take the version by the Kingsmen
Man. Amazing to think these are the same guys that did "Indian Reservation". A career-ending trainwreck of a song if I ever heard one.
Had no idea. They recorded this before the Kingsmen. I was hoping to be able to understand the lyrics. Nope. Hahaha. :)
I may get bashed for saying this.. but I can understand why the Kingsmen version did better.. all tech talk aside.. this version just seems too raw.. for most peoples tates.. like comparing the Stones version of "I wanna be your man".. to the Beatles version.... I think in this case as well the general public made a wise choice...
Real rockers rocking! Recorded a week before The Kingsman's version.
The best version.

Comparing with the Kingsman's version, obviously Mark's vocal is much better but I still prefer the guitar solo on the Kingsman version. It's a classic among guitar players.
I love that classic ? sound..
BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THIS song NEVER CHARTED. THIS VERSION WAS RELEASED 2 weeks before the KINGSMANS VERSION, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS THAT COLOMBIA WAS NOT A ROCK AND ROLL LABEL AND
MITCH MILLER HATED ROCK AND ROLL, SO THE RECORD NEVER RECEIVED ANY PROMOTION, AN ABSOLUTE NECESSITY IN THE WORLD OF A.M. RADIO.
Living in San Francisco at the time this song came out we only heard Paul Revere & The Raiders version, never heard The Kingsmen's version until years later. A much BETTER version than The K's!!
The Guitar Solo is done by Steve West, also known as the Lost Raider. He was only 16 yrs old when he recorded it with Mark Lindsay and the gang. Steve will be playing on stage with Mark Lindsay mid October of 2019 in Portland Oregon for the Oregon Music Hall of fame. here is a link to his interview if your interested in a little music history.

This version so much better than the Kingsmen ! Solid rock n’ roll that got most of the air time out here in California.
Grotesque cover
This is the best version of this tune of all the versions. I even like it better than the original by Richard Berry. Rarely do I like a cover better than the original
Kids in Southern California used to do the Slauson Shuffle to this version. The Kingsmen's version wasn't out yet. I know they were both released at about the same time, and that the Kingsmens version ewasn't being played in the L.A. areas. Paul Revere's version was pushed by Lloyd Thaxton. The Kingsmen were all Dick Clark's doing, thanks to Bandstand. I was in Camp Pendelton at the time and we only heard what the southern Calif. DJ's were playing. They were probably being played simultaneously in Philly, NYC, etc..
Heard so many versions but this is a standout and my favorite!
Rest in Peace, Les Cooper.  He must have been too shy to mention his instrumental hit from late 1962:  "Wiggle Wobble" by Les Cooper and the Soul Rockers.
Thanks for sharing the story!!!
Played this with Mark Lindsey and Drake Levin back in 1965. Mark helped our Sax player learn it. Knew Drake played at Bop City in San Francisco back in 1961. Good guys.
Best ever rendition of Louie Louie. College kids went nuts.
Les Cooper, Terry and the Pirates
I love this version... it just rocks!
