Review by Radu-Sebastian Amarie

Robinson Crusoe On Mars, the soundtrack album composed by Nathan Van Cleave, is a captivating and atmospheric musical experience that perfectly captures the isolation and desolation of the film's titular character stranded on the red planet. The album is a masterful blend of orchestral and electronic elements, with sweeping strings and haunting synthesizers creating a sense of otherworldly wonder and danger.

The album opens with the haunting "Main Title," which sets the tone for the rest of the score with its ethereal strings and pulsing electronic beats. From there, the album takes the listener on a journey through the harsh Martian landscape, with tracks like "The Oxygenator" and "The Search for Food" utilizing tense percussion and eerie electronic effects to create a sense of unease and desperation.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Friday," which features a beautiful and haunting melody played on a solo oboe, accompanied by shimmering strings and delicate percussion. This track perfectly captures the emotional heart of the film, as Robinson Crusoe befriends a stranded alien and finds a glimmer of hope in his otherwise bleak existence.

Love sci fi music.
Wow, great score. I remember watching this movie afterschool as a kid and being totally fascinated with it. Great memories!
I used to laugh when i watched this movie at how livable mars was shown..liquid water..low level of oxygen..
but more and more evidence from nasa says their is liquid water near the equater and underwater caverns...
NASA ought to adopt this fine theme for their anthem this new century. It's as feel good and inspiring as President Kennedy's pledge to land on the Moon before the decade was up.
Não se faz mais cinema como antigamente.
I absolutely love this score plus the electronics used in the incidentals.
I never understood why Paul Manatee didn't become a bigger star after this movie and why Adam West was so underused on screen.
Now I get it, Fishman! I was ticked off that you missed some good music from this movie 3:15 in particular the long section near the end of the movie 7:58 where he’s on a long walk about. Also, the best parts of “The Martian Chronicles.” Didn’t know you couldn’t strip out the dialogue. As a boy, I’d sit by the TV with my crappy cassette tape recorder recording the music from my favorite TV shows. Star Trek TOS was the first one. Man, I even had to pretend to be sick so I could skip my first little baseball game one year so I could record the music from ST’s “The Doomsday Machine!” I think I was 12! Now, I do it with my DVR! I had just recorded the Columbo episode with the IRA arms supplier (can’t remember the name of the episode, The Conspirators, maybe) and was happy to see you had already done it for me! Lost in Space, with young composer Johnny Williams, was another series with many great episode scores. I think he did some Gilligan’s Island episodes, too. I also remember there were a few hour long, dramatic cartoons, I think by Rankin Bass, that had great scores, too. I seem to remember Robinson Crusoe being one of them. But I’ve gone on long enough. Glad to see you’re keeping this great music alive, Fishman!
Only the first half of the soundtrack/score?
Brilliant composer of film and TV. I remember seeing this in theater way back when. Later I taped the lazer sounds on my reel-to-reel recorder, for playing with my space toys. ??x?
LOVED THIS SOUNDTRACK. IF I COULD ONLY RETURN TO THOSE INNOCENT DAYS OF CHILDHOOD AWE AND WONDER
Very good score to a what is now called a science fiction classic.
AWESOME SCORE
Van Cleave...Brilliant Composer. This all before John Williams Star wars. Van Cleave composed many themes for TV and Film all memorable.
I remember seeing this movie in 1964 when I was ten years old. Little did I know that "2001" would come out only 4 years later and blow Robinson's SFX out of the water!
I consider this as a sci-fi cult classic. A wonderful film with great sound effects; it brings back memories of Saturday matinees and double-features where they showed cartoons before the flicks started.
This captures my imagination
