My Dying Bride - Hollow Cathedra

Review by Chris Wooden

My Dying Bride's latest album, Hollow Cathedra, is a haunting and powerful addition to their discography. The band's signature blend of gothic and doom metal is on full display here, with soaring guitars, thunderous drums, and gut-wrenching vocals.

The album opens with the epic "The Solace," which sets the tone for the rest of the record with its brooding atmosphere and crushing riffs. From there, the band takes the listener on a journey through dark, emotionally charged tracks like "Tired of Tears" and "The Long Black Land."

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Old Earth," which features hauntingly beautiful violin and piano melodies that add an extra layer of depth to the already powerful music. Another highlight is "Your Broken Shore," which showcases frontman Aaron Stainthorpe's incredible vocal range and emotional delivery.

British doom band, formed sometime in 1990 as some "slower-than-usual" death metal act by Calvin Robertshaw (guitars), Aaron Stainthorpe (vocals), Andrew Craighan (guitars) and Rick Miah (drums). What they played was soon to become the first example of the second wave of doom metal, which mixed elements of other uber-heavy genres such as death and black metal. "Towards The Sinister" was the band's first recording ever, an early demo which immediately got them a deal for their first real release, the classic EP "Symphonaire Infernus Et Spera Empyrium". I missed old days, the people here think of me i did change but when it comes to this music I'm more like how i was before, still love u guys from Pakistan keep singing...
I just discovered this song recently. Was it a B side track for Feel the Misery?
Amazing song
beautiful from the world's greatest band
uwielbiam ten kawałek majstersztyk pięknotka błysk bywajcie
Sorrows....
Life would be so sad without My Dying Bride.
forever mdb...
Life is so sad........
A descending sorrow...
I am not sure why but I see a clay stop motion video for this song working well. Detailing a mans descent down through a castle as he searches for his love only to find her dead in one of the dungeons then he carries her outside to put her to pyre.
Love it!
My Dying Bride...the Band that never disappointed Me...!!!

I first heard MDB...back to 1995 ''The Cry of Mankind''..from the album The Angel and the dark river. Since then I have been impressed...
Found this in Discogs, wasn't exactly cheap. Bought it anyway!
LOVE THIS BAND, TURN LOOSE THE SWANS IS MY PERSONAL FAVORITE.
this track and others like "And My Father Left Forever" is probably the best MDB have written and sounded in their recent years' output. While for personal reasons and special memories, there will never be another Crown of Sympathy, another TLTS to me, this album looks like (finally very welcome) a very close second. This track would be a perfect album closer. Why, I wonder, has it been left out?
Beautiful and sorrowful like a lonely walk on deserted shores after the loss of a loved one
Pure melo Doom
the intro brings back "your river" a bit
My Dying Bride - Hollow Cathedra, lyrics

Though broken, her twisted finger drew my whole name.
Her shoulder of beauty, heavy and corrupt with shame.

Tired waves crash upon the dead shore of her pale flesh.
That woman of cruelty is the enemy of my God.

The terror in her eyes was beautiful unto me.
The thoughtless steel in my hand was a gift and fee.
I moved her into the sun, so pure and so free.

Thanks MDB for this awesome new single
Great track except for the drums, the drumming is too weak, they're not being hit hard enough, they need to get a better drummer, they need to bring back Rik Miah from "Turn loose the swans"...
So where will this be available?
The "new" drummer still sucks ..
this should be on the new album.. love mdb.. they're everything to me <3
good new track !! hail
Is this on the new album, if not it should be.
old MDB veins in this song.
.. come back to 90's...BEAUTIFUL!
