The Movielife - This Time Next Year

Review by Ricardo Pool

The album This Time Next Year by Movielife is a refreshing and thrilling addition to the pop-punk genre. The band showcases their talent for crafting catchy melodies and energetic riffs throughout the album's 11 tracks.

The opening track, "Face or Kneecaps," immediately sets the tone for the album with its fast-paced instrumentals and anthemic chorus. The lyrics are relatable and introspective, touching on themes of self-doubt and perseverance.

Other standout tracks include "Jamestown," with its memorable guitar hook, and "Walking on Glass," which features a more stripped-down sound and showcases the band's versatility.

  • Vinyl version includes digital download of this record.
  • 550 pressed on opaque green vinyl.
  • This one was supposed to come out in 2016 when the band was touring. For some reason this record stayed on the Revelation Record shelves. One copy was sold by accident and that was when it appeared here and was the first time people heard about a green version. It was not released in 2000 as mentioned here before. The rest of the copies went up for sale in the summer of 2018 after two (REV)record nerds visited the REV Headquarters and brought up the existence of the green copy to REV owner Jordan Cooper. They forgot they had those lying on the shelves :-)
  • So there is only one green vinyl version and that is this one.

Comments

USA's The Movielife disbanded twice before reforming in 2017: 2000's This Time Next Year is a clone of Circle Jerks, The Offspring and Blink-182.
I was watching a brand new concert. Apparently they were opening for this band. Now I’m here and I am jamming
