Interstate 10 is an impressive album that showcases the talents of singer-songwriter Mike West. The album features a mix of country, folk, and blues, with West's smooth vocals and intricate guitar playing taking center stage throughout.
From the opening track, "Interstate 10," West sets the tone for the album with its upbeat tempo and catchy chorus. He then slows things down with the soulful "Crying Shame" and the haunting "Ride On," which showcases his ability to convey emotion through his lyrics.
The album also features some standout collaborations, including the toe-tapping "Don't Let the Bastards Get You Down" with fellow musician Tom Vandenavond, and the bluesy "Lost My Way" with slide guitarist Bob Malone.

One of my favorite records ever from one of my favorite songwriters, singers, and people in general ever! This is Mike's first record from his New Orleans years. Every song is a gem, both musically and lyrically. It's his folkiest and most emotionally straightforward album, filled with love and sadness and irony and joy and sharp social commentary. Wow. I like it even more 25 years later!
