Loudest Whisper - Magic Carpet

Review by Gertjan de Jong

Loudest Whisper's album Magic Carpet is a mesmerizing blend of folk, rock, and traditional Irish music. The band's unique sound is highlighted by the enchanting vocals of Brian O'Reilly, who effortlessly weaves stories of magic and adventure throughout the album's ten tracks.

From the opening track, "Magic Carpet," to the hauntingly beautiful "The Pilgrim," the album takes listeners on a journey through time and space. The band's use of traditional instruments, such as the tin whistle and bodhrán, adds a distinctly Irish flavor to the album, while the electric guitar and drums give it a modern edge.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Golden Sands," a lively and upbeat song that showcases the band's incredible musicianship. The harmonies are tight, and the instrumentation is flawless, making it a joy to listen to.

What a brilliant list. Many of my own favourites. Great to see Loudest Whisper on there, seriously neglected band.
very hidden gem
Excellent!
That's a seriously beautiful voice.
I love your music
They are poised to perform in Germany "The Children Of Lir" with a 100 strong choir and a string quartet
I like it but tune seems ripped off from "If I was a Carpenter" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btWobQsGcS4
Great music...i went to school with these lads. What a wonderful surprise
Gear
Wanted to sing along:
Silent, oh Moyle, be the roar of thy waters
Break not ye breezes, your chains of repose
While murmuring mournfully Lir's lonely daughter
Tells to the night star her tale of woes

When shall the swan, her death note ringing
Sleep with the wings in darkness furled?
When will heav'n, its sweet bell ringing
Call my spirit from this stormy world?

Sadly, oh Moyle, to thy winter wave weeping
Fate bids me languish long ages away
Yet still in her darkness doth Erin lie sleeping
Still doth the pure light its dawning delay

When will the day star mildly springing
Warm our isle with peace and love?
When will heav'n, its sweet bell ringing
Call my spirit to the fields above?
Call my spirit to the fields above?
gorgeous!
Yes, what a great voice Geraldine Dorgan has! I was not familiar with this group at all and just found it by chance. Is Geraldine still singing or did she have other albums besides this one that she sang on?
the group are still around, with a number of line up changes, I can't help you with any information on the personel or Geraldine
