Review by Sampath Iyengar

Led Zeppelin's University Of Leicester 1971 album is an absolute masterpiece. The album features some of the band's most iconic tracks, including "Stairway to Heaven," "Black Dog," and "Rock and Roll."

The live performances on the album are flawless, with Robert Plant's vocals soaring to new heights and Jimmy Page's guitar work leaving listeners in awe. John Paul Jones' bass and keyboard playing add a layer of depth to the already intricate compositions, while John Bonham's drumming is nothing short of legendary.

My home city. To think I was just a short distance away from this gig. But unfortunately I was only 4 at the time. Still feel like I should have been there though lol.

Holy cow! Jimmy's solo on Stairway is just extraordinary. My God, what a guitar genius! Just stunning.
Thanks for this. As a 16 year old, I was lucky enough to get a ticket through a friends sister who was at Leicester University at the time. I've still got the ticket, very worn, shiny silver in the shape of a Zeppelin. Cost £1. I don't remember a great deal about the concert , other than we were sat on the hard floor of a large room, in the Percy Gee Building. Good to hear it again.
While the Japanese tour is one of the best, I would rank this UK tour up there as well. Rare encores, very varied WLL medleys, and incredible guitar work from Jimmy that exceeds his work in Japan IMO. Robert took some warming up, but by Dazed is in excellent voice and keeps it up all the way to the end. Jimmy is on fire throughout, and absolutely shreds in Communication Breakdown. Speaking of which, Robert does an ad-lib at 2:22:46 during the funk jam, and he's done the same line the same way in the Auckland and Baltimore 72 shows. Anyone recognize it?

They were actually live in my hometown I wish I was alive then so I could go and see them
Plenty of mojo in the acoustic numbers here, so nice to hear Tangerine. Thanks Boots.
Hey Boots! Do you know how long this version of WLL was? Considering that despite being cut it lasts about 30 minutes, maybe it originally broke the record of the Osaka version
Is this the first show where Stairway appeared late in the set?
Sick or not he did what most cant do even not sick 1:35:22
