Awesome share! Was in the first grade with Kippi at Gra-mar elementary in Nashville. We had a wonderful teacher named Mrs. Roberts. So glad Kippi had great success in the music business. Would like to hear more music by her. Have a blessed day. David Wayne :-)
This is REAL country music. To bad it is now a thing of the past. She had such a beautiful voice. I have the original 45 of this framed and hanging in my office. I guess as a reminder of what country music used to be. Just does not get any better.
Kippi was an amazing talent. Wow! What a voice! I met her in Nashville around the time this song came out and we shared a few meals together. Last saw her when her album came out in the late 90's. Would love to get back in touch with her.
I really like this song Wayne. Kippi did had a song called "Daddy's Little Girl" which hit #42 back in 1997 and her cd came out as well on universal/curb records which she flopped and she hasn't made any music since.
This song is definitely a country classic that has became a hit 3 different times during 3 different decades!...First, it was country legend Webb Pierce, who took his version of "Slowly" all the way to #1 back in 1954...and then 17 years later in 1971, the duet version by Dottie West and Jimmy Dean climbed to #29...and lastly, this version sung by 15 year old Kippi Brinkley aka Kippi Brannon, had her only Top 40 single, reaching #37 back on the week of November 14, 1981...she sounds great!.. wonder whatever happened to her and why her career didn't go any further (after all, she was signed to big-time label MCA at the time this was a hit!)...so, there you have it!.. a song that made the Top 40 3 different times in 3 different decades...also interesting to note that one version was by a male artist, another by a duo, and the last one by a female! ..Thanks so much Wayne for sharing this lost and VERY rarely heard anymore gem that definetely deserved a lot more attention than what it got back then for Kippi, but hopefully people will be able to hear and enjoy on your channel now! . Have a great weekend! Take Care! Ms. Elizabeth :)
