Review by Zach Byrn

Jerry Lee Lewis' album Lovin Up A Storm is a classic rock and roll masterpiece that showcases the legendary musician's piano playing and vocal prowess. Released in 1959, the album contains 12 tracks that are a mix of original compositions and covers of popular songs.

The album kicks off with the title track "Lovin Up A Storm," a high-energy rock and roll number that immediately grabs the listener's attention. Other standout tracks include "Big Blon' Baby," "Don't Let Go," and "Frankie and Johnny," all of which feature Lewis' signature boogie-woogie piano playing and dynamic vocal delivery.

One of the album's highlights is Lewis' cover of Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen," which he infuses with his own style and energy. Another standout cover is "Jambalaya (On the Bayou)," which Lewis transforms into a rollicking rock and roll number.

Comments

Made the UK singles chart. One of his finest Sun Records releases. Another great version by Jerry Lee was recorded live at Panther Hall ,Texas. Indeed the hottest cut from those recordings, which wasn’t released until the mid- 80’s.
Listen to Showaddywaddy vesrsion...great!
Nuclear Rock ! Killer for ever
FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!
Great blues/rock song. Jerry Lee is the best.
To some, at the time, this was the ultimate, rockingest Jerry Lee; but, it was after his first marriage, and received very little airplay.
All the greats from the 1950s (Elvis, Chuck, Fats and Little Richard) must have thought their time was up when Jerry Lee came good with Whole Lotta Shaking ............. saw him in 1964 and he was electric.
Rockin!!
