Review by Acrylic Printcut

Superstition 迷信 is a collaborative album by Jeff Beck, Tim Bogert, and Carmine Appice. The album was released in 1973 and features a fusion of rock, jazz, and blues.

The album opens with the title track, "Superstition," which is a cover of the Stevie Wonder hit. The trio's rendition features Beck's signature guitar licks, Bogert's groovy basslines, and Appice's powerful drumming. The album also includes covers of "Black Cat Moan" by Beck, Bogert, and Appice's former band Cactus, and "Livin' Alone" by blues legend Willie Dixon.

The standout tracks on the album are the original compositions by Beck, Bogert, and Appice. "Why Should I Care" is a slow blues number with Beck's emotive guitar playing and Bogert's soulful vocals. "Definitely Maybe" is a funky instrumental with Beck's virtuosic guitar soloing and Appice's dynamic drumming.

The fuzz bass is killer. Then they hit the falsettos on “suffer.” Damn. Could this be any better?
Suddenly, I’m back in middle school again!
Rest easy, Jeff and Tim. Thank you for the music. :)
I SEEN THESE GUYS IN 1973...HAMMOND CIVIC CENTER...HAMOND INDIANA.....I WAS RIGHT UP FRONT WHEN THEY BUSTED INTO...BLACK CAT MOAN !!
Rest in peace, Jeff. Thankfully you left things like this as your legacy.
Jeff co-wrote this with Stevie....his version was supposed be released first, but record company delayed the release and then Berry Gordy released Stevie's version....the rest is history... people now think this is the cover rather than the original.....
I loved this album. It is a shame they only lasted one album

Rest in peace, Jeff. Your music has inspired and thrilled millions and you are missed, greatly.
Becks original sterling playing captures true grit dexterity and itensity!
Carmine kills it here. For further enlightenment Check Vanilla Fudge live ("Keep Me Hangin On") Beat Club in 1967 on ytube, then view Led Zeppelin on Danish TV in '69.
Way heavy!
One serious cover! Funkyduty.
100th comment. Anyone else here from Beato?
Stevie did it ,,,,,,,
Stevie Wonder fucked Jeff by recording & releasing Superstition which he wrote for Beck as payment for Jeff doing guitar sessions for his Talking Book album. Stevie blames it on Motown Records but it was he who broke the contract. I love Beck but to be honest, it was a mistake to start this version out with those weak guitar riffs rather than the drumbeat & Beck really needed a Robert Plant or Stevie Wonder on vocals to make this THE killer version of the song. The Live in Japan BBA version is way better but Tim's vocal, whilst being good for a bass player playing complex grooves, is NOT good enough for a supergroup to compete with the likes of Led Zep and Stevie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyyhm1D7zlI
