Hoobustank is a funk-metal band from Southern California. They are an upbeat, heavy rock-funk band from Calabasas/Agoura, CA. No specific meaning but Hoobustank was found in Webster's Dictionary. Pronounced (who-BUH-stank), the word is jive for "Who's butt stinks?" Hoobustank? Not mine!!! The band formed in early 1995, and began playing out that summer. Since then, Hoobustank has headlined numerous shows at popular Hollywood venues such as the Palace, Roxy, Whisky A-Go-Go, Key Club and Troubadour, playing to a vastly growing devoted fan base from all over Southern California. Hoobustank has also supported talented acts such as Reel Big Fish, Vent, Incubus, Goldfinger, Phunk Junkeez, Sprung Monkey, Let's Go Bowling, The Urge, Mix Master Mike, Fishbone, Zebrahead, Black Eyed Peas, Frontside and Home Grown.
In 1998, the band released their first CD, Basketball Shorts with the following tracks on it:
1. Earthsick
2. Foot In Your Mouth
3. Karma Patrol
4. Stuck Without A Voice
5. Can I Buy You A Drink?
6. Naked Jock Man
7. Our Song
8. The Mirror
9. Educated Fool
10. The Dance That Broke My Jaw
In 2000, Hoobustank began working on their follow-up. They recorded three songs rather quickly, and released them as a '3-Song Sampler' with the following tracks on it:
1. Hello Again
2. Ready For You
3. Up And Gone
Shortly thereafter, Hoobustank began talking with record labels. In early August, they signed with Island/Def Jam. The signing put off the release of the new CD until early 2001, so Hoobustank could return to the studio and re-record the material, which was only half-finished.
Alternative Rock (Modern Rock) band from Agoura Hills, California (USA), formed in 1994.
